The doctoral thesis of Daniel Villatoro, researcher of Mobility and Energy R&D group of Barcelona Digital, has been acknowledged with the Victor Lesser Distinguished Dissertation Award. This award recognizes annually the doctoral thesis with more rigor and quality in the field of the autonomous agents and multiagents systems.

Entitled Social Norms for Self-Policing Multi-agent Systems and Virtual Societies, the thesis analyzes the use of social norms as a mechanism to regulate virtual societies and specifically heterogeneous societies formed by humans and artificial agents.

On June 7, Villatoro submitted his thesis in the 11th edition of the AAMAS congress (Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems) that took place in the Polytechnic University from Valencia. The jury emphasized the outstanding quality of all nominees.
