Neurolearning is an R&D Project for the development of a tele-medical system for neuropsychological intervention based on interactive virtual environments (virtual and augmented reality). This system will also include a data mining module for the automatic obtention of information which enables the creation of a knowledge database and an e-learning platform to make such knowledge accessible to neurorehabilitation professionals.
Development of Activities for language rehabilitation
These activities consist of 21 tasks included under the main function "Language" and they are sorted by various sub-functions as a Basic functions, Semantic, Writing, Reading, Auditive comprehension and Segmentation. Each of these tasks is intended for neurorehabilitation in a particular area of human neuropsychological system.
At the time of performing the tasks different types of digital content is used such as images, sounds, videos or simple text. These tasks are used during the rehabilitation sessions and they are programmed and personalized by the therapist. Each task has several levels of difficulty and can be scheduled for later execution by Neurolearning platform. After performing the task by the patient the results are sent to the Neurolearning platform where it will be stored for their later analysis.
Development of the reports module of the telemedicine platform
This module consists of making a web tool for consulting and analyzing all necessary information on the use of the platform and the tasks of neurorehabilitation. To facilitate a more efficient analysis the queries can be categorized by the following sections: System, Tasks, Therapists, Patients and Alarms. This information is displayed using various types of graphs and tables. Furthermore, the content is filtered based on user role that can be an administrator, supervisor or therapist. In each case, each user will see the information belongs.
One of the highlights of this module is the ability to create custom reports in an easy and intuitive way for the user. Navigating the report module is comparable to a virtual store where the user is reviewing the charts and chooses only which he considers necessary. Each of the graphs and tables include an adding icon that has the functionality to send the chart or table to a shopping cart under name "My Report". Once the selection is conclude, the user can reorder the graphics and finally print the report or save it as PDF or XML. To facilitate this process, the module already contains several default reports which contain some selected graphs and tables. Furthermore, after creating a customized report the user can save it as default to access it at any time.
Another notable feature is the ability to customize graphs and tables. On the one hand the user can change the period dates between which the information can be classified by days, weeks, months or years. On the other hand there is the possibility to choose between various types of graphs that can be independent bar, stacked bar or pie type, in addition to display units.
A new telerehabilitation platform will be developed to address the current limitations of the conventional cognitive rehabilitation therapies. It is a system that will offer to telerehabilitation therapists, neuropsychologists generally, the ability to develop customized treatment plans as a 2D and 3D activities over the Internet. Allowing also automatically assign intensive rehabilitation programs during the period of time, save the results and adjust the level of difficulty of each task based on performance, offering patients the possibility of treatment without having to leave his home, and ensuring that all tasks performed will be provided within the therapeutic range.
New set of neuro-therapeutic tasks will be developed in 2D and 3D formats covering various functions of neuro-rehabilitation, such as Attention, Memory, Language and Basic Functions included under three main categories, such as Brain Damage, Aging and Schizophrenia.
A reporting module will be developed and will be integrated into the platform. This module will collect all the information on the use of the platform and therapeutic tasks, and review any alarms produced during planning and during performing of the therapy sessions.
